Karate in the Park Invitation to the whole Community!

Students from Dinoto Karate Center, your Mount Laurel martial arts school, will be meeting at Laurel Acres Park this Saturday to have a fun martial arts class...and the whole community is welcome!

As a change of pace, the instructors from Dinoto Karate Center decided to change up the venue to benefit the kids, according to Master Peter Liciaga. "We wanted to have a lot of fun and introduce the students to a new environment," said Liciaga. "It's important, because, for the most part, kids are outside, playing in the park, and they're not always aware of their surroundings. Here we are teaching them how to look around, how to behave if approached by strangers and do it in a fun, positive way... in a real life setting."

During the karate class (see times below), the children will play martial arts versions of relay races, discuss stranger danger safety, and then finish off with Water Balloon Target Training (very WET & FUN!)

Master Peter Liciaga, a parent of two children–Alexandra, 10 1/2 and Christian, 7 1/2, said he thinks the change of scenery is not only fun, but important. "It gives my kids a new perspective on things. It's not just about their moves in the classroom; it's about how to use what they're learning in a less controlled environment that's more 'real life'," he said.

Red, White & Blue Celebration at Mount Laurel's Dinoto Karate Center!!!

Dinoto Karate Center will be celebrating and commemorating Independence Day (4th of July) with their "Red, White & Blue" week. 

All students are welcome to wear or paint themselves red, white and blue this week when they come to class.

Dinoto Karate would like to also invite the community to visit us this week and take a free class.

A Little Histor...

Independence Day is a national holiday marked by patriotic displays. Similar to other summer-themed events, Independence Day celebrations often take place outdoors. Independence Day is a federal holiday, so all non-essential federal institutions (like the postal service and federal courts) are closed on that day. Many politicians make it a point on this day to appear at a public event to praise the nation's heritage, laws, history, society, and people.


Families often celebrate Independence Day by hosting or attending a picnic or barbecue and take advantage of the day off and, in some years, long weekend to gather with relatives. Decorations (e.g., streamers, balloons, and clothing) are generally colored red, white, and blue, the colors of the American flag. Parades often are in the morning, while fireworks displays occur in the evening at such places as parks, fairgrounds, or town squares.

Independence Day fireworks are often accompanied by patriotic songs such as the national anthem "The Star-Spangled Banner", "God Bless America", "America the Beautiful", "My Country, 'Tis of Thee", "This Land Is Your Land", "Stars and Stripes Forever", and, regionally, "Yankee Doodle" in northeastern states and "Dixie" in southern states. Some of the lyrics recall images of the Revolutionary War or the War of 1812.

Firework shows are held in many states, and many fireworks are sold for personal use or as an alternative to a public show. Safety concerns have led some states to ban fireworks or limit the sizes and types allowed. Illicit traffic transfers many fireworks from less restrictive states.

A salute of one gun for each state in the United States, called a “salute to the union,” is fired on Independence Day at noon by any capable military base.

Dinoto Karate Center is creating a buzz among Mount Laurel parents for having the best events and birthday parties in town.

Dinoto Karate's last event was a 3-hour Parent's night out (see video below!) where the kids had fun with ultimate obstacle courses, relay races, pizza, snacks, board break challenges, music and learning about courage, confidence, fitness and fun!

Dinoto Karate's next event is this Friday, February 25.

They will have a their annual Glow in the Dark Light Saber event! If your child is into Star Wars! and loves waving a light saber, this is the event for him! Attention April Black Belt Candidates

Dinoto Karate will be conducting a "Catch Up" Clinic for those candidates eligible for the April Dan Shim Sa. The clinic will be held on Saturday, March 5th from 1:30PM to 3:00PM. This is a great opportunity to catch up on any missed material. Master Dinoto will review the ENTIRE TEST!!!! (Wish I had that when I went for my Black Belt).

If you are interested, you must enroll and pay the fee with me before March 5th. Space is limited.
