Then, in the mid-eighties, Karate Kid and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arrived and dojos across the world were flooded with kids. Often out outnumbering the adults that once dominated the population of dojo participants.
Then, when Tae Bo hit the market in the '90's, we started seeing more adults stepping on the mats again. Mostly women that were seeking fitness, fun and self defense. Since that era, there has become a very balanced level of activity involved in the Martial Arts.
Adults, kids, professionals from all walks of life are enjoying the many benefits that come from quality Martial Arts training. XMA (Xtreme Martial Arts) has kept the interest of many teenage Black Belts and MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) continues to keep many adults in great shape. Physically, mentally and emotionally.
Most adult students are just big kids that never want to grow up :-)
